Abstract:
Three Pacific climate oscillations at different temporal scales, ENSO, PDO and PNA have impacts on the climate of western North America. The diverse topography and areas of intact ecosystems make Montana an interesting site for looking at climate variability within the past 50 years. This paper analyses measured station data for Montana to determine the extent of variability of climate over the last half century. Monthly anomalies of temperature and precipitation records are correlated with ENSO, PDO and PNA indices.
