Session Description: A major new project is under way to improve the understanding of community resilience to natural hazards, drawing on current research and lessons from such experiences as Hurricane Katrina; to enhance the resilience of three communities in the US Southeast; and to develop a web-based decision support tool for use by other communities wishing to become more resilient.   The panelists will describe the project, with particular emphasis on its research components, and invite attendees to join in a discussion of project aims and activities, underlying concepts, and relevant literatures and experiences.
