Session Description: This panel session will explore the practical, ethical, and political implications of geographic research practices in an era of global climate change. As the new carbon economy shifts social and economic practices, universities and academics are not immune from the broader restructuring. What are the implications of these shifts for our work as geographers and academics? How should we think about and respond to the carbon consequences of our own travel and research? This discussion will be part of a broader set of sessions on the new carbon economy and its consequent shifts in capitalism and governance.
