Session Description: Annually, the Cryosphere Specialty Group hosts this illustrated paper competetion which highlights student research on any aspect of the cryosphere. The competition is open to any undergraduate or graduate student completing original cryosphere related research in the past academic year. The session is named in honor of Ralph Stockman Tarr who a glacial geologist and geographer. He studied under W.M.
Davis at Harvard. While teaching at Cornell University, he led numerous scientific expeditions to  Greenland and Alaska.
