Mapping Opportunties
Nature Magzine Article on Careers in Geography

This Nature magazine article, which identifies geotechnologies as “one of the three most important emerging and evolving fields,” should be very useful for recruiting students to geography programs, and for demonstrating convincingly to university administrators the growing demand for geographic research and education within the university, and in society.

The trends identified in “Mapping Opportunities” will attract many new students to geography programs, and presents a unique opportunity to expose a large pool of talented new students to the full range of the discipline as they enter geography departments and courses. Significantly, the article stresses repeatedly that students need a deep understanding of underlying geographical concepts to effectively work in the new geotechnologies fields.
